Telegram Channel Giveaway Bot with Subscription Check

The bot explains the rules, checks the channel subscription itself, asks the contest question and hands out an entrant number. 3 hours before the results it reminds people of the results date and time. You pick the winner by the “Giveaway Entrant” tag in Contacts.

In short

The “Channel Giveaway Contest” template is a ready-made Telegram bot flow in Forgebot that explains the rules and the prize, checks the channel subscription itself, asks the contest question and hands out an entrant number. Three hours before the results it reminds people of the date and time, and you pick the winner by the “Giveaway Entrant” tag.

After signing up: Flows → All Templates → “Channel Giveaway Contest”. Free plan — no card required.

The Task

Who It's For and What It Solves

For channel authors, bloggers and shops with a channel who run contests and check subscriptions by hand. The bot lets only subscribers through to the question, prevents a second entry on a repeated /start and tags everyone “Giveaway Entrant” — you pick the winner by that tag in the Contacts section.

How the Bot Talks to a Customer

The bot's messages are taken from the template as is. Highlighted parts are filled in by the bot: your details from Bot Fields or the customer's answers.

  1. Bot

🎁 Giveaway: prize To enter: follow the channel and answer one question. Results — October 20, 7:00 PM (GMT+3).

  2. Bot

To enter, follow the channel, then tap “I’ve Subscribed”.

    • 📢 Open Channel
    • ✅ I’ve Subscribed
  3. Customer

    ✅ I’ve Subscribed

  4. Bot

Great, you’re subscribed! The contest question: contest question

  5. Customer

My answer to the contest question

  6. Bot

🎟 You’re in! Your number: entrant number. Stay subscribed until the results — we’ll check the winner again.

  7. Bot

⏰ Reminder: the giveaway “prize” results — October 20, 7:00 PM (GMT+3), watch the channel. Good luck!

The Flow

How the Flow Works, Step by Step

  1. Rules and prize.
  2. Channel subscription check.
  3. Not subscribed — “Open Channel” and “I’ve Subscribed” buttons.
  4. The contest question.
  5. Entrant number = Telegram ID, the “Giveaway Entrant” tag.
  6. 3 hours before the results — a reminder with the results date and time.
  7. A repeated /start doesn’t give a second entry in this giveaway.
Setup

What to Adjust for Your Business

  • Make the bot an admin of the channel — otherwise the check always says “not subscribed”.
  • In Quick Setup, fill in the prize, channel and question and set the results date and time (30 days max) — the reminder 3 hours before is set for you. The scenario can’t be published until the date is set.
  • Bot messages show the results date like “October 20, 7:00 PM (GMT+3)”.
  • Pick the winner by the “Giveaway Entrant” tag in Contacts and check they are still subscribed before handing out the prize.
  • Turn the scenario off after the results — otherwise a new entrant gets “You’re in” and the results reminder right away.
  • While the bot waits to send the results reminder, it doesn’t answer an entrant’s regular messages — connect the Helpdesk to see them.
  • A new giveaway with the same bot — after the results, set a new date in this scenario’s Quick Setup and publish: past entrants can enter again. Before that, delete the “Giveaway Entrant” tag in Tags — it comes off everyone, so past entrants don’t end up in the winner pick.

Recommendations

  • We recommend turning the flow off after the results, because otherwise a new entrant gets “You’re in” and the results reminder right away.

What the Template Doesn't Do

  • The subscription check works only when the bot is a channel admin; otherwise it always says “not subscribed”.
  • The bot doesn't pick the winner: you do that by the “Giveaway Entrant” tag.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the bot check the subscription?

The “Subscription check” block asks Telegram whether the person is a channel member. Non-subscribers see the “Open Channel” and “I’ve Subscribed” buttons.

Can I run a second giveaway with the same bot?

Yes: after the results, set a new date in Quick Setup and publish. Before that, delete the “Giveaway Entrant” tag in the Tags section so past entrants stay out of the new winner pick.
