Sub-flow: run another flow as a part of this one

Move shared steps — address collection, payment, a survey — into a separate flow and call it from anywhere, without copying blocks.

In short

The "Sub-flow" block in the Forgebot Telegram bot builder runs another of your flows as part of the current one. Use it to move shared steps (address collection or a survey, say) into a separate flow and reuse it in several places, instead of copying the same blocks over and over.

About the block

What the "Sub-flow" block does

The block hands control to another of your flows — as if you'd pasted its steps right here. The customer goes through the sub-flow without noticing the switch: to them it's one continuous conversation. This keeps shared pieces (delivery address, payment, a survey) in one place: fix it once and it updates everywhere the flow is called.

The block's settings panel — what to fill in:

Target flow
Which of your flows to run as the sub-flow. The list shows only published flows of the same bot. Nesting is limited: flows can call one another no deeper than five levels.
Example

Example: shared address collection

You have two flows — "Pizza delivery" and "Sushi delivery". The steps where the bot asks for address and phone are moved into a separate "Collect address" flow. Both flows call it with the "Sub-flow" block, so the address is asked the same way everywhere and you edit it in just one place.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is "Sub-flow" different from copying blocks?

Copying gives you two identical chains of blocks that you then have to edit separately. A sub-flow is a link to one shared flow: fix it once, and every place that calls it picks up the change.

Which flows can I pick?

Only published flows of the same bot — drafts and other bots' flows won't appear in the list. If the list is empty, this bot simply has no other published flows yet.

Can I nest flows endlessly?

No. Flows can call one another no deeper than five levels — a safeguard against endless chains where flows keep calling themselves in a loop.
